They say golf is 90% mental and 10% physical. Golf is unlike any other sport. It is the only sport where the ball just sits there waiting for you to hit it. It is quite and nobody is yelling at you like football or baseball.

There are no team mates to blame for mistakes. A competitor can’t make you miss. It is all up to you and your skills both mentally and physically. That’s why golf the mental game game is so important.

You need to practice and improve you mental game just like you go to the range and practice your chipping or putting. Once you have a strategy to improve your mental game it easy to implement. You can do it any where.

You need to learn how to control you mental thought, because your thoughts become physical reality. You need to have a plan to get your mind ready to play. Need to have a physical and mental routine during your round you can count on like a warm blanket to keep you warm in winter.

You naturally want to create routines in life. We are creatures of habit. Just think about the natural routines you already have set up in your everyday life. Do you get up at the same time. Do you watch the sames shows even if they are reruns. Our desire to create routines and comfort zones is also why it so hard to make changes in our life.You can use this natural feeling to create comfort routines to improve you mental and physical golf game. It just requires you to notice leverage this common desire.

The idea is to take the mind out of the equation and produce results regardless of the situation. The only difference between a putt to win a match and every other putt is your feeling the out come. It takes the same effort. Using routines to control your emotion is the key to playing better golf.
